M74 Spiral Galaxy

M74 is one of the hardest objects in Messier's catalogue to observe visually as it has a very low surface brightness, even though it’s quite large. It is a classical "grand design" spiral galaxy and is about 32 million light-years away.

Where it is in the sky:

M74 is in the constellation Pisces, close to the border with Aries. But as it has a low surface brightness it is hard to find visually.
